Conversion Tracker (Click Based) will allow you to see how many sales are being produced by a particular advertising method. A Conversion Tracker will allow you to see how many sales are being produced by a particular advertising method. An example will best illustrate this. Let's say you're selling a product on your website and you advertise in two different e-zines (email newsletters). You could use a Conversion Tracker to see which e-zine is producing the most clicks to your website and the most sales. You'd do that by advertising a different URL in each e-zine, something like: http://www.yourdomain.com/name.php?tag1 AND http://www.yourdomain.com/name.php?tag2.In this case, name.php is the Conversion Tracker script, which you'll download on the next page. The tag1 bit would be replaced with the name of the first e-zine, and tag2 would be replaced with the name of the second e-zine. These tags are just for your own reference and can be any alphanumeric (i.e. letters and numbers) combination of 50 characters or less. When you view the statistics for this Conversion Tracker you'll see how many clicks were received from each e-zine and how many sales were generated. Not only that, but you'll also see the conversion ratio. For example, if the first e-zine sends you 100 visitors and 2 of them buy your product, the conversion ratio will be 2%. In other words, 2% of the visitors bought the product. You'll also see the total number of clicks received, the total number of sales generated and the overall conversion ratio. As you can see, the idea is to "tag" each advertising method you use (e-zines, classified ads etc) with a different name. You can then see which ones are generating the most traffic and the most sales. In the above example we've only used two tags but you can have up to 1000. Tags can be any alphanumeric combination of 50 characters or less. Don't use the word default as a tag because this is reserved. If you choose to use your Conversion Tracker without a tag then any clicks you get will be assigned to the default tag named "Default." This Conversion Tracker will count both raw and unique clicks. A unique is somebody who hasn't clicked on your Conversion Tracker link before. A raw click is somebody who has clicked on it before. Cookies are used to differentiate unique clicks from raw clicks, in addition to recording IP addresses of all clicks for the previous 24 hours. This means that a unique is technically anyone who has clicked on your link before (and also has cookies enabled) or anyone with an IP address that hasn't clicked on your link in the previous 24 hours. Please note that the conversion ratio is based on the number of unique clicks relative to the number of sales. For example, if you get 200 raw clicks and 150 of them are unique, with 15 sales, then the conversion ratio is 10% (because 15 sales from 150 unique clicks is 10%). If you wish to give other people access to your password protected Control Panel, so that they can view the statistics for this Conversion Tracker, then don't select the "Allow URL modification" option below as that will allow anyone with access to the Control Panel to change the Destination URL! Also, don't select the "Allow reset" option as that will allow them to reset the click stats.
